175
CATIONIC SOFTENER CHEMICAL NATURE: Fatty acid amide Properties Appearance
: Off white to cream coloured paste Ionic nature : Cationic Solubility :
Dispersible in cold/warm water easily Stability : Stable in mild acidic to
neutral conditions Applications SOFTCAT 175 is a substantive
type of Softener based on cation-active compounds and has been developed as softening
agent for cotton and synthetics. Being a cationactive substance, SOFTCAT 175 should
not be mixed with onion-active products like soaps, sulphonated oils, anion-active
detergents, Turkey Red oil, Optical whitening agents, etc. It is readily dispersible
in the rinsewater and rapidly absorbed on the fibre. This can be applied to the
wet materials easily and produces a very soft and pleasing handle with a pliable
and well lubricated surface on the goods. Recommendations SOFTCAT
175 paste should be 'creamed' with one to two times the weight of water (preferably
worm) with stirring. After such creaming it can be diluted with manual stirring
to a 10 or 20% stock solution with more water. SOFTCAT 175 may be applied by the
padding method or by the exhaustion method. 1 to 2% SOFTCAT 175 on the weight
of the goods may be used in the exhaustion method with sufficient time given for
adequate exhaustion, usually 30 to 45 minutes. For employment by the padding method,
treat with 2.5 to 20 gms./ litre of SOFTCAT 175.
SOFONIL
NON-IONIC SOFTENER CHEMICAL
NATURE:Fatty acid esters Properties Appearance : Off white poste Ionic
nature : Non-ionic Dispersibility : Dispersible in water Stability : Stable
in hard water Applications SOFONIL is a non-ionic softening agent
of high resistance to heat, which is especially suitable for the finishing of
white goods. It does not affect the effect of optical whitening agents and also
it does not yellow the treated goods on storing. Recommendations 1
. PADDING METHOD: The amount of SOFONIL to be employed by the padding method usually
depends on the type of finish and the effect desired; it is generally 5-20 gms./litre
SOFONIL.
2. EXHAUSTION METHOD: On the winch and in yarn dyeing machines,
the goods are treated for 15-20 minutes at 30-40'C with 1 to 3 gms./ litre SOFONIL.
The exact amount depends on the effect required and the liquor should be as short
as possible. Exhaustion can be improved by the addition of 0.5 - 1.0 gms./litre
of Acetic acid (40%). But then this is likely to have some effect on the shade
of dyeing or optical whitening agents. On the jigger, the amount required is 3
to 8 gms./ litre SOFONIL.
FASTFIX EC
CATIONIC DYE-FIXING
AGENT Properties Appearance : Colourless Liquid Ionic nature
: Cationic Solubility in water : Miscible in all proportions Applications FASTFIX
EC is a cationic dye-fixing agent, miscible with water in all proportions, stable
to acids and unstable to alkalies. It finds use as an after-treating agent for
both reactive, direct dyed/printed goods to improve wet and perspiration fastness
remarkably. The goods treated with FASTFIX EC will show minimum shade change and
negligible loss in light fastness. Recommendations 1 . The dyed
fibre/yarn is to be treated with 1.5% to 3% of FASTFIX EC at 40'C (approximately)
depending on the depth of the shade, based on weight of cloth as the final treatment.
2.
The dyed fabrics can be treated with 2 to 4% FASTFIX EC on the weight of the goods
in the padding mangle for fabrics.
MEROSOL
NON-CRESYLIC WETTING
AGENT FOR MERCERISING CHEMICAL NATURE: Sulphonated Alcohol Properties Appearance

miscible with alkalies Stability : Stable to strong alkalies Applications MEROSOL
is an excellent wetting agent to give a rapid and uniform penetration of strong
alkaline solutions into cotton and polyester blends (Yarns/Fabrics) during mercerising
process. The high wetting out properties of MEROSOL enables good mercerisation
even in the grey stage, which enables the subsequent boiling treatment either
to be eliminated or carried out for a short duration. This results in softer yarns.
MEROSOL has additional usage of wetting in strong acidic solution and is also
effective in solution containing suit upto 20%. It is a mercerising agent with
reduced foaming. Recommendations Grey goods : 6 to 10 g/1 Boiled
goods : 2 to 3 g/1 Coloured woven fabrics: 2 to 3 g/1 | | | | | | | TASILC

is an excellent silicone-based finishing softener/ repellent agent for cottons
and polyester blends as well as nylon and its blends. It can be applied at lower
dosage levels as a self-finish to confer softening effect and as a water-repellent
for Cotton fabrics (fancy umbrella cloth) at higher dosage levels.
TASILC
should always be applied in the bath along with a catalyst in right proportions
and a final curing at 150 / 155'C for 4 mts. is recommended for an optimum and
durable finish. Recommendations 1. As a Soft finish: 20 to 30
gms./ litre in the padding bath or 1.5 to 2% on the weight of goods in terms of
TASILC is recommended.
2. Water repellent finish: Mainly for cotton, polynosic
and other blends. The goods are to be padded in a bath containing 60 to 80 gms./
litre of TASILC, with the required amount of catalyst. The dried goods (preferably
on a stenter) are to be cured at 150 / 155'C for 4 mts.
3. In resin finishing:
TASILC is a very useful additive in resin finishing as it gives a remarkably soft
and supple handle in addition to improving the strength significantly. A dosage
level of 20 gms./ litre of TASILC (together with the requisite quantity of catalyst)
along with the resin and other auxiliaries is recommended.

fabrics. Finishes obtained with this product are outstanding in transparency This
is a thermoplastic resin and it produces semi-permanent finishes which satisfy
normal requirements of laundering. The wash fastness of the finishes can be enhanced
by incorporating other thermosetting resins in the finish. Finishing
Bath Preperation TEXEMUL-MH is applied as the lost wet operation in the
finishing process. This is applied from a both of finishing composition and the
goods are impregnated by padding or similar techniques. The liquor bath is
prepared by first diluting the emulsion with 5-10 times its volume of cold or
warm water. The additions are being made gradually with constraint stirring to
obtain a uniform dispersion. The diluted emulsion is then thinned with more wate;
to the required concentration, which depends on the resin pick-up desired on the
good and also on the wet expression of the mangle. In general, the emulsion
concentration of the padding liquor may vary between 1% and 10% depending on the
finish required. Application This product is normally applied
for padding with a squeeze of 60-70 the temperature of the padding solution varying
between 25'C and 70'C, depending upon the wettability of the goods. Other application
methods in which jigger is also possible. After padding, the goods are dried at
temperature above 80'C on starter or drying cylinders, when drying on cylinders,
it is recommended to wrap the first few cylinders with cloth. If calendering is
required before folding and packing, then worm calendering is preferable in view
of the thermoplastic nature of TEXEMUL-MH as the finish may stick to the calendar
rollers. | | | | | | | TEXPRINT
